...Winter hasn’t exactly broken our spirits this year. We’d like to complain, but we just can’t. That doesn’t mean we can’t pine for summer, though, what with its warm weather and sunny days that remind us that color really does exist in nature, barbecues, outdoor drinks, lake time, music festivals…what were we saying? Oh right. It looks like we have another reason to be psyched for summer - GreenNote, an acoustic music festival and green expo taking place at Myrtle Edwards Park on July 24th and 25th.
It’ll be Seattle’s first homegrown green-fest. Produced by the same group that brings us Seattle’s PrideFest, Seattle Lights Out and local flashmobs like this one, GreenNote will feature 100 performers on three stages, over 100 environmentally conscious vendors and non-profits, and green workshops.
The majority of performers will be local and all the music will be acoustic, which should save some on the electricity usage. The year is young and so is the festival, so GreenNote is still squaring away the lineup. The festival is taking artist submissions until April 22. Bio-diesel generators will provide the necessary energy, and a bike valet will handle your sustainable ride. The music is green. The food is local and sustainable. The products are green (though the vendor requirements aren’t the strictest). Sounds like GreenNote has earned its name. The event will also be free, so we’ll be able to hold onto a few of our own green-notes, too.
